m, and Judea, and beyond the Jordan. CHAPTER V. CHRIST'S SERMON ON THE MOUNT. 1 [5:1]AND seeing the multitudes, he went on the mountain and sat down; and his disciples came to him. [5:2]And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying; [5:3]Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [5:5] Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [5:4]Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted. [5:6]Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. [5:18]For I tell you truly, that till heaven and earth pass away, one iota or one point shall by no means pass away from the law till all things are accomplished. [5:19]Whoever therefore shall break one of the least of these commandments, and teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [5:20]For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means enter into the kingdom of heaven. 3 [5:21]You have heard that it was said by the ancients, You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be subject to the judgment.
