Among his works are "Empedocles on Etna, and Other Poems," "Essays in Criticism" (first and second series), "Culture and Anarchy," "Literature and Dogma," "Discourses in America," and "On the Study of Celtic Literature." _Morality_; _Self-Dependence_. B BANGS, JOHN KENDRICK. Born at Yonkers, N.Y., May 27, 1862; died Jan. 21, 1922. Received Ph.B. degree from Columbia 1883; associate editor of _Life_ 1884-8; has since served in various editorial capacities on _Harper's Magazine, Harper's Weekly_, and the _Metropolitan Magazine_.
