pallid then cinnamon, lacrymose; s. 4-7 cm. subbulbous, white, fibrously
scaly, veil evident; sp. 10 x 6.

var. _alba_, Fr. S. longer, equal, partly hollow, apex fibrously scaly;
g. distant.

var. _elegans_, Lindgr. Edge of p. sulcate or rugoso-plicate. Form B.
Pileus purple-brown.
