the Lord; as the Lord commanded Moses. And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil: and he burnt therein incense of sweet spices; as the Lord commanded Moses. And he put the screen of the door to the tabernacle. And he set the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meal offering; as the Lord commanded Moses. And he set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water therein, to wash withal. And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat; when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed: as the Lord commanded Moses. And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle {237} and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work. _The Cloud of the Glory of God in the Tent_. Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys: but if the cloud was not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and there was fire therein by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys. {238} LEAD ME ON Traveling to the better land, O'er the desert's scorching sand, Father! let me grasp thy hand; Lead me on, lead me on! When at Marah, parched with heat, I the sparkling fountain greet, Make the bitter water sweet; Lead me on! When the wilderness is drear, Show me Elim's palm-grove near, And her wells, as crystal clear: Lead me on! Through the water, through the fire, Never let me fall or tire, Every step brings Canaan nigher: Lead me on! Bid me stand on Nebo's height, Gaze upon the land of light, Then, transported with the sight, Lead me on! When I stand on Jordan's brink, Never let me fear or shrink; Hold me, Father, lest I sink: Lead me on! When the victory is won, And eternal life begun, Up to glory lead me on! Lead me on, lead me on! {239}{240} [Illustration] MOUNT HOREB
