This hand-cranked machine could cut all kinds of fodder--hay, straw, and corn stalks--with ease and rapidity. Called the "Improved Baldwins American," it was patented in 1867 and 1872. The Hart-Parr tractor could pull gangs of plows or drive large threshers. Oil circulating through the pipes in the square stack cooled the engine.
