A New York lawyer, living in Hartford, Connecticut, whose work although not as yet collected into a volume has attracted much attention. Received the _Poetry_ prize for the best one-act play, in 1916, for his "Three Travellers Watch a Sunrise," and the Levinson prize for his "Pecksniffiana," 1920. Mr. Stevens's art is purely decorative, and its effects must be studied as in pictorial art. He is an experimenter in free verse forms as well as in impressions.
